2010 is the first year that many industry professionals will be required to add Ethics and Professionalism to their continuing education regiment. This class will provide an overview of a number of ethical responsibilities from Circular 230 with real world examples. This will become a more important part of training as time goes on and the DOL updates their Fiduciary standards. ASPPA among others will require 2 hours of Ethics and Professionalism each year. Also subject to this requirement are Enrolled Retirement Plan Agents (ERPAs). Topics will include:- The requirements of IRS OPR Circular 230
- Who is the client?
- Best practices
- When is the employer late with their contribution or illegally self dealing to the detriment of participants?
- The roles and duties of the various plan fiduciaries in the qualified plan arena.
- Conflicts of Interest
