Don't Forget the Add-ons . . .

Of course you’ve insured your computer system. Or have you? Broad “all risk” policies generally don’t fully cover all the business- and data-related risks associated with computer systems. That’s why EDP (Electronic Data Processing) insurance may be appropriate.

Some specific areas you may want to consider for EDP coverage include:

Operating expenses over and above the loss of insured property covered by your general policy;

Replacement income should a system failure interrupt business;

Cost to research and replace lost, irretrievable data; and

Auxiliary system interface equipment, such as wireless, Internet, and telephone systems.

Losses stemming from attacks to your Web site are generally not covered by either “all risk” or EDP policies. Your insurance agent can give you more information on any specialized coverage that may be available.
