Event Description

Recorded - Ethics for the Retirement Plan Professional

Description

2010 is the first year that many industry professionals will be required to add Ethics and Professionalism to their continuing education regiment. This will become a more important part of training as time goes on and the DOL updates their Fiduciary standards. ASPPA among others will require 2 hours of Ethics and Professionalism each year. Also subject to this requirement are recently certified Enrolled Retirement Plan Agents (ERPAs). Come earn those credits early in the year.

This program will address many topics including the following in a new and different way:

  • The requirements of IRS OPR Circular 230;
  • Who is the client?
  • When is the employer late with their contribution or illegally self dealing to the detriment of participants?
  • The roles and duties of the various plan fiduciaries in the qualified plan arena.
  • Who owns the work product?
  • Conflicts of Interest
At the end of the day, your job may be different than you think.
